Things That Annoy Me #146

Okay, so I have only done one post of things that annoy me, but I can guarantee that at least 145 other things have annoyed me since then.  So, here you go:

#146 - When people sing out loud along with the music playing in stores or other public places.  Guess what?  You're not a good singer.  You're not in your shower, at church, in your car, or in a recording studio, so please stop singing!  If I wanted to hear you sing I would download your songs on iTunes or search for you on Spotify.  What's that?  Your songs aren't available there?  Does that tell you something?  It should.

On a lighter note.  This is one of my new favorite bands.

Remember how I told you about my best buddy Kaitlin?  Remember how I said that we frequently turn up in matching outfits without planning it?  Here is the proof:

Here were are posing in our cube farm, trying to hold on to the last days of summer in our sunny yellow dresses and sandals.  I really should have taken off my name badge.

Fun fact of the day:  Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth. The only continent drier is Antarctica.

Homegoods Inauguration

Last week, I finally made my first pilgramage to the brand new Homegoods in Cordova.  It was pretty great, just like all of their other locations.  I am just happy to have one within an hour drive of me so that when I need a new bath mat, or gourmet dip mix or velvet lined hangers I'll know exactly where to go.  I got out of there only spending $40 on such exciting items as:  veggie chips, an apple peeler, a mercury glass pumpkin and kitchen tongs.  You know, the basics.  I took a few photos of some things I thought were notable but did not purchase.

This console table is a little rustic for my tastes but I thought it would be cute in a beach house or boys room.  I have neither of those things.

I love this mirror for a small bathroom or entry hall.  Check out my legs, still a tad chickenish.

Aren't you glad I found this?  I know you have been looking for one of these your whole life.  Only $59!

Fun fact of the day: The US-Canada border is the longest border in the world without a military defense. It's always good to have nice neighbors.

Burgerfest, Yes Please

Sweet, a burger festival!  I'm in.

I am excited to attend a food festival where I will actually enjoy eating the celebrated cuisine.  BBQ Fest, Crawfish Fest, and Hot Wing Festival are kind of a bust for me food wise.

Mark you calendars, it's September 30th at Minglewood.

Here is a bonus photo of Beyonce and me.  If this does not make you giggle, you should read this

It's Fresh Cuts Tuesday!

It's Tuesday which means fresh cuts at Anthropologie!  Today's cut is all about home decor and kitchen wares, check it out  I ordered four of each of the Piecrust dinner plates, salad plates and bowls in cloud to mix in with my solid white dinnerware.  I have been keeping an eye on these to go on sale since spring, I have been waiting a long time for these babies.

Other notable home sale items include:

Fun fact of the day:   A Blue Whale’s whistle is the loudest noise made by an animal.

Sort-of- skinny Pasta is my favorite website for healthy recipes, unfortunately I usually fix them up a bit and make them more delicious which means not so healthy.  This one I followed the recipe exactly except instead of using skim milk and flour, I went for heavy cream.  And, I added grated parmesean on top.  How bad can it be?  I also did not measure anything so I couldn't tell you how much of each ingredient I used.  Oppps.

It was actually really delicious.  It was spicy, and hearty and filling.  So good in fact that I did not take a picture before I devoured it.  You'll just have to settle for the web image.

Fun fact of the day: The ancient Greeks believed that redheads would turn into vampires after they died.  Good think my friend Jackie is now blonde:)  Happy bachelorette weekend eve to Jackie!

BFFs 4-Eva

I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by some of the best people on the planet.  Most of us started kindergarten together and graduated together 13 years later.  We've taken different paths since then but it is aways good to see each other and find out what is going on in our lives now.  This weekend I got the chance to catch up with some of my childhood besties at dinner on Friday, a shower on Saturday and lunch on Sunday.  What a blessed group we are:)

Abby, Erin, Adrienne, Emily, Kristin, and I at Erin's baby shower.

Beth and I ran into each other at the new and improved Catfish House on Sunday.

I also had dinner with my "never not known each other" friend on Friday night, but there was a maragrita involved so I forgot to take a picture.  So here is an oldie but goodie of Shea and myself.

Fun fact of the day:  Blueberry Jelly Bellies were created especially for Ronald Reagan.

What a Relief

I am so glad that the Dutchess of Cambridge's pants leave a red line on her tummy after sitting for a while.  I thought I was the only one.  Look closely, it's there.  Mine might be slightly worse than that:(

Fun fact of the day:  Contrary to popular belief that Big Ben refers to the world famous clock, it is actually the name of the thirteen ton bell. The tower itself is known as St. Stephen’s Tower.

Big News!

I have recently been doing a bit of shopping of a different variety.

That's right, my sister and bro-in-law are expecting a baby!  Due on February 14, or what I like to call "the day after my birthday".  Let the shopping for ridiculous baby things begin:)

In other news:
Fun fact of the day: Even before they are born, babies have fingerprints from around three months in the womb.

Uninvited Guests

This summer I have prided myself on my green thumb.  I have never been able to grow anything on my deck because of the oppressive sun, but this year I've got a whole urban garden!  It's beautiful:)  But, yesterday morning I watched in horror as two doves decided that one of my planters was a perfect spot to build their love nest.  After several tries at waving my arms and stamping my feet at them, they simply waited for me to go inside and started again.  So, instead of continuing to look like a fool several times a day, I decided on a new tactic, rubber snakes.  I hope this does the trick.

I put these two on the deck

This guy in the neighboring planter.  He's a coral snake, not at native Memphian.

And I put this guy right next to where they are building.  That ought to scare the crap out of them.  And, that crap better not end up on my deck.  Rawwrrrrrrr!

Fun fact of the day: In every episode of Seinfeld there is a Superman somewhere.

Back to School

Christ United Methodist Church is having a school supply drive to help out some of the city schools that are supported by the church.  This excited me very much!  I was always the nerd kid who looked so forward to new pencils and crayons and the coveted Sanrio school box.  I was meticulous in arranging the supplies just so in the pink plastic box so that everything fit perfectly:)  Here's the loot I picked up for my donation bag.

Here are some other ways to donate schools supplies to kids and schools in need:  You can drop off supplies at any Staples location  Here's how you can help MCSS  You just missed this one!  Dang, I know you wanted a free tattoo.

Fun fact of the day:  The bull on the bottle of Elmer's Glue was conceived as a mate for Elsie, Borden's beloved "Spokescow." Elmer was created as her hubby shortly after the 1939 World's Fair.
