And for my next trick......

I'll show you how to make chicken pot pie soup.

This is another recipe from my favorite food blog skinnytaste.com. I've always been a fan of the saying "if you can read, you can cook", and this post is a prime example. Just follow the recipe and ta-da! Soup for you!  http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/01/chicken-pot-pie-soup.html

Voila.  Notice the cute bowl.

I give this recipe a 3.5 out of 5 stars, mostly because the best thing about chicken pot pie is the crust and this lighter recipe leaves it out all together. Skinny people don't eat crust.

Fun fact of the day: Three men served as president of the U.S. in 1841: William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Martin Van Buren.

I Heart San Francisco

Last week I spent five glorious days in San Francisco. I'm a sucker for beautiful architecture, history, and towns with character, and SF has all of these things. It's also a geographical wonder with the ocean, bay, vast forest and mini-mountains all in one 360 degree view. Top it off with a day trip to Napa, fine dining, a little shopping and the company of great friends and you have the makings of fabulous trip.

Here are some pictures from my adventure.

Google Chrome Saves the Day

Guess who's up and running with Google Chrome?  It's me:)

Tonight, while trying to survive "Ice Storm 2013", I ate tacos.  What else is new?  I made these easy crock pot chicken and black bean tacos from my favorite food blog, http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/12/slow-cooker-chicken-black-bean-tacos.html.

I also surprised myself by coming up with my very own Mexican rice recipe.  I took 1/2 cup brown rice, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup salsa and a little bit of cumin and cooked the rice per the package directions.  Ta Dah!  Mexican rice, looks legit right?  Tasted pretty good too.

Fun fact of the day:  Rhodes College moved to Memphis from my hometown of Clarksville in 1925.

The Beginning of the End?

Blogger no longer allows me to post photos.  No search box appears for me to download files from my computer.  So since no one wants to read a blog without pictures, I guess I'll take a little break.  If any one has any advice on what to do please let me know.

There will be no fun fact today:(

Two Important Birthdays

Most of you Memphians know that today would have been Elvis's 78th birthday, but I bet you didn't know that there is another January 8th birthday that is dear to me.  My sweet little Tootie dog would have turned 20 today:(  Now before you go thinking I'm all cray-cray, I do understand that she was just a dog.  But, she was my dog, I loved her dearly and I will miss that sweet little face for the rest of my days.

Fun fact of the day:  Asperger's syndrome is named for Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger, who described it in 1944. He called his patients "Little Professors."

Resolutions

Here are my resolutions for 2013:
  • Loose weight, go to the gym, eat more veggies, yada yada yada
  • Stop spending so much money on unnecessary clothing items (thank goodness the definition of unnecessary is debatable)
  • Learn how to pay my cable bill online
One of these shouldn't be that difficult.

Fun fact of the day:  Marie Curie's notebooks are still radioactive.  If you don't know who Marie Curie is, I just can't help you.

Another Donkey Post

Meet Monica Lewinsky, a best dressed donkey nominee.

This is not a great picture of Monica, but if you are ever in St. Thomas you should look her up.  She and her owner hang out on top of one of the touristy lookout places and you can take a picture with her for ten bucks.  Totally worth it.

Fun fact of the day:  Only about one-fifth of the world's largest desert, the Sahara, is covered with sand; the remainder is made up of rock formations.
